2020 box office results show resilience of movie-going despite COVID-19 pandemic and widespread cinema closures. Total box office of $401m led by Sony's Jumanji: The Next Level and Universal's 1917. 

2019 Box Office results prove the enduring popularity of the cinema experience. Disney's Avengers: Endgame is the highest grossing film in 2019. Total box office is $1,228 billion.

Disney's Avengers: Infinity Wars takes top results in 2018 box office, followed by Incredibles 2, also from Disney. Total box office closed out 2018 up 3.6 per cent at $1,245 billion.

Australia's total box office took $1,201 billion in 2017, with Beauty and the Beast leading the way as the number one movie of the year, grossing $47.95 million.

2017 achieved a new box office record for Australian cinema, surpassing a record set in 2015. Total box office for the year was $1,259 billion, led by Finding Dory which closed at $48.56m.
